Towards 2015: Effective Management for Development
The course "Towards 2015: Effective Management for Development" is intended to link policy principles and aid modalities at international and national level (e.g. aid effectiveness, alignment and harmonisation) with approaches to address management challenges at organisational level. To enhance involvement of home organisation, the course takes place in two parts.
Target Group
This course targets government officials working as programme managers or senior officers responsible for managing nationally driven and donor supported programmes in central ministries, regional administrations or at district level.
Entry Profile
The participants are assumed to have positions as middle level managers in their organisation at central, regional or decentralised levels, a relevant university degree and at least 3-5 years of professional experience.
Ability to discuss course topics in English. Computer literacy.

Course Goals
Participants are competent in applying management methods relevant to the context of their programme and thereby achieve management results that enhance progress in their fields of work and support the objectives of their programme/organisation in line with current development principles and international policies.
Participants are capacitated to strategise, plan, organise, and evaluate relevant programme activities, considering the internal conditions and external contextual factors of the anchor organisation of the programme.
At course level
Participants can competently reflect on the importance of contextual factors on their work and critically examine, how contextual factors and characteristics of their home organisation affect their responsibilities as managers. This constitutes the basis for selection of practical approaches, methods and tools to be applied for programme management, thus leading to achievement of improved programme results.

Funding
The Course is co-funded by Danida Fellowship Programme. After selection of course participants, the Danida programmes/projects are charged a non-refundable amount of DKK 2,500 per participant per tutorial week.
Total funding needs are DKK 15,000 per participant. This includes study fees, accommodation, allowances, insurances and international transport.
