Rural Environmental Management
Target Group
The course is for managers and field officers who are presently involved in environmental projects or development programmes with a potentially strong emphasis on rural environmental issues. It has a focus on environmental policy and aims at creating an enabling orientation to environmental management.
Entry Profile
Three years of professional experience and preferably 6 months experience from a Danida supported programme. Computer literacy.

Course Goals
Participants are able to:
- Examine and carry out environmental analyses and use decision-making tools and concepts.
- Analyse different perspectives in rural environmental management projects to strengthen environmental management processes.

Course Structure
The course will be centred on lectures, case studies, environmental management issues, and will enable the sharing of best practices from participants' countries and
Part of the course will be an Individual Implementation Assignment. This assignment must originate in an activity that is:
- In line with project/programme development objectives
- Realistic in terms of implementation and funding
- Within the participant's own area of responsibility
A superior must approve that the participant develops a solution to the problem during the stay in
The course contains exposure to Danish environmental organisations through excursions and a training attachment to a municipality, regional office or other organisation involved in environmental management.
Funding
The Course is co-funded by the Danida support Fellowship Programme. After selection of course participants, the Danida programmes/projects are charged a non-refundable amount of DKK 2,500 per participant per tutorial week.
Total funding needs are DKK 15,000 per participant. This includes study fees, accommodation, allowances, insurances and international transport.
