Information and Communication

The course will focus on the relations between the principles of Good Governance and modern information and communication theories and practices.

Target Group

- Managers and heads of departments in the public sector, in central, regional and district level administrations;

- Civil servants on fast career tracks;

- Nationals working in reform units etc. in the public sector in temporary assignments.

 

Entry Profile

The participants are assumed to have leading position in their organisation, a relevant university degree and at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.

 

Topics

- Communicating with the press
Focus will be on revealing and discussing the roles of the public and the press in a modern democracy. Media experts will wrap up the role of the press.

- Planning information
We will analyse and discuss aspects of planning and campaigning. Focal themes will be ‘what is the message’, ‘who are the target groups (or stakeholders)’, ‘what is our strategy’, and ‘what are the medias’.

- Communication
Focus will be on both internal and external communication based on the organization’s values, mission statement, and long-term goals. The module will give participants an in-depth understanding and tools for writing the organization’s overall communication policy.

 

Course Goals

- To give participants an in-depth insight in practical information

- To present best practice organizations

- To give participants tools and blueprints for writing concrete communication policies, strategies and plans.

 

Course Structure

Classroom based sessions with case studies, peer-to-peer learning, hands-on workshops, and excursions to Danish organizations with relevant communication practices. Lectures by leading information experts and practitioners.

 

Funding

This course will only be carried out if sufficient qualified participants apply for the course. Participation is financed by the central fellowship grant.
